El Derecho Animal es una rama que, actualmente, se encuentra en continua y rápida evolución. Y ello como consecuencia de que el concepto de bienestar animal ha variado mucho en los últimos años debido a que la consideración de la sociedad hacia los animales ha cambiado drásticamente y lo seguirá haciendo, pues cada vez son más las personas que luchan por sus derechos y exigen normas que protejan a todos los animales por igual, como seres sintientes que son. En este proceso evolutivo de nuestro ordenamiento jurídico participan un gran número de actores, pues, con independencia de la demanda social, en la aplicación de este derecho se ven involucrados distintos profesionales que, de un modo u otro, desarrollan, ejercen, interpretan, aplican, difunden, investigan o estudian el Derecho aplicable a los animales, siempre de la mano de quienes los aman, rescatan, protegen, cuidan, sanan o ayudan, en general.
Por eso, desde la Sección Derecho y Bienestar Animal del Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga, con motivo del XVI Congreso Jurídico de la Abogacía, celebrado el 16 de octubre de 2021, se organizó una Mesa Redonda formada por ponentes del más alto nivel, pertenecientes a ámbitos muy diversos, pero a la vez, complementarios, en cuanto a la aplicación práctica del Derecho Animal. En dicha mesa se habló largo y tendido sobre esta cuestión y cada ponente aportó su punto de vista, vivencias y conclusiones sobre el Derecho Animal desde sus respectivos ámbitos y, por supuesto, trasladaron su visión sobre el futuro del Derecho Animal en nuestro país, cuáles son sus expectativas o qué podríamos hacer, en su opinión, para mejorar la situación legal de los animales. Dada la variedad de temas tratados en dicho Congreso y las distintas perspectivas desde la que se abordaron los innumerables problemas que se plantean en la aplicación cotidiana de todo tipo de normas, se recogen resumidamente los principales puntos de sus intervenciones, como actas (proceedings) del Congreso, junto con la introducción que las contextualizó llevada a cabo por la propia Coordinadora de la Sección Derecho y Bienestar Animal del Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga.

Animal law is a branch of law that is currently in continuous and rapid evolution. This is a consequence of the fact that the concept of animal welfare has changed a lot in recent years due to the fact that the consideration of animals by society in general, has changed drastically and will continue to do so, since increasingly more persons are fighting for their rights and demanding rules that protect all animals equally, as the sentient beings that they all are.
A large number of actors are involved in this evolutionary process of our legal system, since, besides social demands, in the implementation of Animal Law different professionals are involved who, in one way or another, develop, practice, interpret, apply, disseminate, research or study the law applicable to animals, always hand in hand with those who love, rescue, protect, heal, help or take care for them. For this reason, the Animal Law and Welfare Section of the Malaga Bar Association, organized as part of its XVI Congress, held on 16th October 2021, a Round Table with of speakers of the highest level, belonging to very different but, at the same time, complementary fields concerned with the implementation of Animal Law. The topic was discussed in length and depth and each one of the speakers provided us with their point of view, experiences and conclusions on Animal Law from their respective fields and, of course, gave us their vision about the future of Animal Law in our country, what their expectations are or what we could do, in their opinion, to improve the legal situation of animals. These speakers are now the authors of this article where they present part of their brilliant speeches, together with a humble introduction by the Coordinator of the Animal Law and Welfare Section of the Malaga Bar Association. Due to the variety of issues addressed in the Congress and the different perspectives from which multiple problems, raised in the daily implementation of Animal Law, were addressed, the main points of the respective interventions are presented as proceedings of the meeting, along with the introduction which contextualized them by the Coordination of the Animal Law and Welfare Section of the Málaga Bar Association.
