La asistencia sanitaria en el sector pesquero es clave pues el trabajo en el buque presenta una elevada siniestralidad y debe ofrecerse y garantizarse el acceso a atención médica y hospitalaria al pescador allí donde éste se encuentre y hasta que recupere la salud. La asistencia sanitaria del pescador se describe y configura en nuestro país en términos omnicomprensivos pues garantiza la cobertura durante la navegación y/o en el extranjero y queda integrada por servicios de diferente tipo. Pero, junto a las normas nacionales, han sido muchas las normas supranacionales que han incidido -desde hace muchos años- en la regulación de tal protección, superando casi siempre nuestras normas, actualmente, los contenidos de éstas. Recientemente, en el sector pesquero, tras la tardanza en ratificar España el Convenio nº 188 del trabajo en la pesca, la trasposición de la Directiva 2017/159 ha culminado en la aprobación del Real Decreto 618/2020 de 30 de junio y de la Ley 24/2020, de 26 de junio. Este estudio presenta una panorámica de toda esa regulación e indaga acerca de si los últimos cambios han introducido reformas en esta materia.

Health care in the fishing sector is key since work on the ship has a high accident rate and access to medical and hospital care must be offered and guaranteed to the fisherman wherever he is and until he regains health. Fisherman's health care is described and configured in our country in comprehensive terms as it guarantees coverage during navigation and / or abroad and is made up of different types of services. But, along with national standards, there have been many supranational standards that have had an impact - for many years - on the regulation of such protection, almost always exceeding our standards, currently, their contents. Recently, in the fishing sector, after the delay in ratifying Spain the Convention No. 188 on work in fishing, the transposition of Directive 2017/159 has culminated in the approval of RD 618/2020 of June 30 and Law 24 / 2020, of June 26. This study presents an overview of all this regulation and inquires about whether recent changes have introduced reforms in this area.
