El rechazo al Estatuto Real generó una serie de proyectos de reforma que trataban de superar las limitaciones de un texto que no se ajustaba a las demandas de los liberales. El gobierno de Francisco Javier Istúriz fue el creador de uno de estos proyectos de reforma. El proyecto, que no llegó a entrar en vigor por el golpe de los sargentos de La Granja en agosto de 1836, tiene el interés de que recoge las experiencias vitales y políticas de sus autores, así como las enseñanzas teóricas y prácticas aprendidas en el exilio. En buena medida, puede decirse que es uno de los precedentes más destacados de la Constitución de 1837.

The rejection of the Estatuto Real resulted in a series of reform bills seeking to overcome the limitations of a text that did not meet the demands of the liberals. The government of Francisco Javier Istúriz was the creator of one of these reform projects. The project, which never entered into force from the putsch of the sergeants of La Granja in August 1836, is interested in collecting political and life experiences of their authors, and the theoretical and practical lessons learned in exile. To a large extent, it could be said that the project is one of the precedents of the Constitution of 1837.
