Para la elaboración de Digesta se han utilizado obras de numerosos autores si bien el emperador aclara, con insistencia, que se han realizado modificaciones y resuelto antinomias en las obras de estos juristas, de forma que toda la legislación anterior queda derogada. Prohíbe el cotejo y que se indague los desacuerdos entre las decisiones de los juristas incluidos y su obra. No obstante esta prohibición, dispone que se inserte al comienzo de la obra un Índice que contenga la relación de autores y obras utilizados. En este Index se advierten las siguientes incorrecciones: Obras y juristas presentes en Digesta y omitidos en el Index Auctorum; Obras que figuran en el Index Auctorum y no se encuentran en Digesta; Obras y juristas fuera de orden, según los criterios seguidos de mayor a menor número de libros, y cronológico para los autores; Diferencias en la obra o en el número de libros entre el Index Auctorum y Digesta, y Obras que se adscriben a un jurista distinto.

‘Several authors’ works have been used in order to develop the Digesta; nevertheless, the Emperor insistently clarifies that there have been changes and certain antinomies have been resolved in these jurists’ works so that all previous legislation is repealed. It prohibits collating as well as investigating any existing disagreement between the jurists’ decisions, than have been included, and their works. In spite of this prohibition, it provides that and Index may be added at the beginning of the work that would contain the list of authors and works used. The following are errors found in said Index: Works and jurists that are present in Digesta but omitted in the Index Auctorum; Works that are found in the Index Auctorum but not in Digesta; Works and jurists that are out of order according to the criteria followed with authors that have a greater amount of books written and chronological order for these authors; Existing differences in either the work itself or in the amount of books found between the Index Auctorum and Digesta; Works that are assigned to a different jurist.
