(RI §410606)
Some Keys about the Spreading of the roman Prejudices towards the oriental ancient World - José Antonio Martínez Vela
In ancient societies –in the same way we can see actually in many news spread by our modern media- it was very common the existence of different negative topics about certains cultures and peoples, which put special emphasis on some negative aspects, only looking for with it to damage as far as possible its good reputation or prestige, at the same time they tried to stress the clear moral and personal superiority of that society in which those comments were made.
The aim of our work is precisely to emphasize how this was a very widespread practice in the roman society in connection with the oriental world, and specially with its more important enemy from the first century A.D., the Persian Empire.
