(RI §410579)
Variety on the unity, as a methodological premise of the romanistic science -

No exclusive method exists for the study of Roman law. The truly scientific approach is the only suitable method, the basic goal being to obtain the truth and knowledge. As is widely-know, casuistry and empiricism prevailed in Rome but hints and signs of systematic and generalizing methods were not entirely absent.
Under the diverse range of methodologies used today (historic-critical, marxist, comparativist, naturalistic, dogmatic), one idea clearly shines throughout. Roman jurists did not follow one single, preconceived method in their study but rather, allowing themselves to be guided by intuition, achieved a genuine and characteristic way of proceeding whose validity and results are obvious.
