(RI §410555)
The legal status of the natives of Spanish Guinea: nationality, citizenship and legal capacity. -

The Spanish began the colonization of Fernando Poo, now Bioko, in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, in the second half of the nineteenth century. For nearly half a century, the main work was to build a legal and political structure in the territory. It was slow work, plagued by doubts and errors. In this context, the figure of the native posed conceptual problems and ones of legal status, which were solved by relegating him to a secondary position which resulted in limitations in his capacity to act, in his access to property and with respect to labour law.
