El ordenamiento brasileño reconoce los efectos civiles de todo rito religioso matrimonial, sin exigir a las religiones ningún requisito para ello, siempre y cuando los ritos no contraríen el orden público y las buenas costumbres. Sin embargo, los requisitos de forma de celebración del matrimonio religioso, especialmente la inscripción, tienen diferente valor en el caso del matrimonio religioso y en el del matrimonio civil.

The Brazilian law recognizes the civil effects of every religious marriage rite, without demanding any requisite, as long as rites don’t go against public order and good manners. However, the procedure requirements to perform the religious marriage, especially marriage registration, have different value for religious and civil marriage.
