(RI §412289)

How is born in Galicia labor movement (1870-1900).

I. Introducción.- II. Until not long ago, and from a historiographical viewpoint, there were certain limitations to approach and present a synthesis of the history of the Galician labour movement. However, the latest publications have contributed to a better knowledge of this topic, allowing us to have a more real (and therefore more scientific) view of this reality. This short essay intends to approach the inception of the labour movement in Galicia from the earliest mutinies that erupted in the 18th century to the dawn of the 20th century, stressing the importance of the last quarter of the 19th century as the time of explosion of the labour movement and, indeed, their labour demands.

I. Introduction.- II. The dawn of workerist demands: Luddism and mutinies.- III. The Maestranza del Noroeste (Northwest Dockyard, Ferrol Arsenal).- IV. The birth of the labour movement.- V. The first half of the Restoration (1874–1900).- VI. End-of-the-century workerism.- VII.The fishing sector.- VIII. Agrarianism.- IX. Female labour.- X. Some final considerations.- XI. Bibliography.
