Este trabajo revisa la función que desempeña la retórica forense y sus relaciones con la retórica literaria española de las décadas centrales del siglo XIX en un marco de progresiva especialización de ambos campos. El estudio de algunos de los más destacados textos publicados en este período muestra toda una red de conexiones que nos ayudan a comprender mejor el desarrollo y evolución de esta disciplina viendo en qué medida confluyen o divergen la perspectiva literaria y la judicial en la teoría del discurso.

This work revises the task developed by forensic rhetoric and its relations with the Spanish literary rhetoric in the middle decades of the 19th Century, within a framework of progressive specialization in both fields. The study of some of the most outstanding published texts in this period shows a complete net of connections that enable a better understanding of the development and evolution of this discipline, considering to what extent literary and judicial perspectives coincide or differ in the oratory theory.
