Se analiza la protección del sistema público de Seguridad Social español por incapacidad temporal en su relación con otras posibles prestaciones. Esencialmente se abordan tres cuestiones: 1ª) Lo que ocurre cuando en protección por incapacidad temporal se produce la situación que daría lugar a otra prestación o a la inversa; 2ª) Lo que ocurre cuando un trabajador desarrolla varias actividades ¿Debe la incapacidad temporal afectar a todas ellas?; 3ª) Los posibles efectos de estas situaciones en la determinación de los periodos de cotización necesarios para el percibo de sucesivas prestaciones del sistema público de Seguridad Social.

In this article it is analyzed the protection provided by the Spanish public system of Social Security regarding temporary disability and its relation with other possible pensions of the system. The three main topics analyzed in the article are the following: 1st) what happens when recieving temporary disability protection another situation that is covered by a different pension comes along or vice versa? 2nd) what happens when a worker carries out different activities simultaneously, should temporary disability affect all activities? 3rd) possible effects of those situations when stating the periods of coverage required to be eligible to receive consecutive pensions of the public system of Social Security.
