Jose Finestres y Cervera: Manifestations of Felipe V’s attempted university reform - José María Coma Fort

En este trabajo se hace un estudio del ensayo reformador de la universidad con ocasión del Decreto de Nueva Planta de la Real Audiencia del Principado de Cataluña. El trabajo se plantea desde la perspectiva del derecho romano y, concretamente, a partir de la figura de uno de los principales impulsores de la Universidad de Cervera: José Finestres. El autor pretende poner de manifiesto el papel científico que desempeñó la Facultad de Leyes durante la etapa más floreciente de esta Universidad, teniendo en cuenta las principales aportaciones del ilustre profesor cervariense en el ámbito del derecho romano.

The projected university reform attempted by Felipe V with occasion of the Decree of Nueva Planta for the Catalonian Real Audiencia is the subject of this work. The annalysis is made from the perspective of the Roman Law and is more specifically focused in the figure of one of the Cervera University main impellers: Jose Finestres. The author tries to show the scientific role carried out by the Faculty of Law during the most flourishing stage of this University, considering the main contributions of the illustrious Cervera professor in the scope of the Roman Law.
