Artifex Legum: The ideal of the king-legislator in Visigothic Spain (7th century) - Oleg Aurov

El autor defiende la preeminencia de los orígenes romanos en la concepción del poder real visigodo. Se efectúa para ello un análisis del proceso de transición de la tradición juridica hispano-romana a la España visigoda, que desvela los materiales usados en la construcción del ideal real en la España visigoda. Especial atención se dedica a la obra de San Isidoro, y a su vinculación con la retórica ciceroniana.

The author defends the preeminence of the Roman tradition in the conception of the Visigothic king’s power. An analysis of the transition that took place from the Hispanic-Roman tradition to the Visigothic Spain is made, to reveal the materials used in the construction of the king-legislator figure in Visigothic Spain. Special attention is given to the work of Saint Isidore of Seville, and its entailment with the ciceronian rhetoric.
