Coincidences of analysis between two masters: Luis Sánchez Agesta y José Manuel Pérez-Prendes - Elena García-Cuevas Roque

Una de las tareas más apasionantes para un investigador es adentrarse en los escritos de dos grandes maestros que han dedicado su vida a la docencia e investigación en materias conexas, con el fin, no solo de hallar las coincidencias de pensamiento entre ambos, sino también de resaltar los diferentes matices que aportan cada uno de ellos. Luis Sánchez Agesta y José Manuel Pérez-Prendes tienen un punto de conexión muy claro: la historia del constitucionalismo español; la determinante influencia que tuvieron las disposiciones contenidas en el texto de 1812, que ha llegado hasta nuestros días, fue reiterada y examinada con gran acierto por ambos profesores. En estos últimos años, el creciente escepticismo alrededor de la actual Constitución de 1978 provoca en el profesor Pérez Prendes una gran inquietud que le lleva a plantear, con su admirable “visión de futuro”, algunas ingeniosas y audaces ideas para abordar la reforma de nuestra Carta Magna, rememorando fragmentos del Discurso Preliminar de Agustín de Argüelles. Por su parte, el profesor Sánchez Agesta, aunque no tuvo ocasión de ser testigo de la peculiar evolución sufrida por algunas de las figuras e instituciones en nuestro país en los últimos veinte años, alcanzó a vaticinar futuros conflictos, relacionados con determinadas partes del texto, y a formular, a través de sus estudios, profundas reflexiones de gran utilidad. Teniendo en cuenta la prolífica obra de ambos maestros, esta exposición ha sido un auténtico reto.

One of the most exciting tasks for a researcher is to enter into the writings of two great masters who have dedicated their lives to teaching and research related matters, with the purpose to find the coincidences of views and to stress the different shades. Luis Sánchez Agesta and José Manuel Pérez-Prendes have a very clear interface point: the history of Spanish constitutionalism; The determining influence of the provisions contained in the text of 1812, which has survived to this day, was further reiterated and examined quite rightly by both professors. In recent years, the increasing skepticism about the current Constitution of 1978 causes in Professor Pérez Prendes a considerable disquiet that leads him to raise with his admirable "vision of the future" some ingenious and audacious ideas to address the reform of our Magna Carta, recalling fragments of the Preliminary Discourse of Agustín de Argüelles. For his part, Professor Sanchez Agesta, although he did not have occasion to witness the peculiar evolution suffered by some of the figures and institutions in our country in the last twenty years, he predicted future conflicts related to certain parts of the text and he formulated deep reflections of great usefulness through his studies. In view of the prolific work of both masters, this exhibition has been a genuine challenge.
