This paper considers the new meanings of origo that can be seen in the language of the imperial constitutions produced under the Roman Low Empire. Special attention is paid to the use of this term denoting compulsory attachment of the individuals to a certain group either social or economical as, for instance, the ordo decurionum or the corpus navicularii.
